Altieri Specialty Coffee is a family-owned business founded in 2005 by Eugene Altieri, a New York businessman of Italian descent who moved to Panama in 1973. The family Estate is comprised of two farms growing coffee between 1,350 and 2,200 m.a.s.l. ALESSA–named after Don Gene’s granddaughter–is a plot located in the Mima Estate at the foothills of the Baru Volcano. It covers an area of approximately two hectares.

Altieri won 3rd place at the 2024 Best of Panama competition Geisha Natural with its Geisha Satori DFC Mima Estate (94.98). At the 2023 BoP it placed in the top 10 in all the categories.
